Armondo is a great example of how effective our tutoring is.

He has been attending KRASS math tutoring since January 2025. In just four months, his grade improved from a 5 to a 2, and he now has excellent chances of finding a great apprenticeship after graduating from secondary school! We are so happy for him.

What's important to us is that we go where "our children" live. That's why we travel to the suburbs and directly to selected apartment blocks or accommodations.

Equally important: Our services are always free for children.

Furthermore: Nobody needs to register, everyone is welcome!

As part of the project “Style your Rights – it’s your partycipation,” a rap workshop on children’s rights took place during the Easter holidays. In the facilities of the comprehensive school on Stettiner Straße in Düsseldorf-Garath, 12 children had the opportunity to express themselves creatively and artistically. The children wrote their own song lyrics, which were professionally recorded by workshop leader Jason Firchow, also known as JayJay.

This is the final video of the "HipHop Workshop" project by KRASS e.V.. For over three months, children and teenagers between the ages of 12 and 13 participated in this art project. Under the guidance of KRASS art instructor Jason Firchow, the participants independently wrote song lyrics and explored the topic of the coronavirus pandemic.

KRASS e.V. gives children and young people around the world culture, education and attention!

Education is the key to social participation and personal opportunities in our society. Through cultural projects, KRASS e.V. therefore supports socioeconomically disadvantaged children and young people at various stages of their development.

Marcel Uhl's project work with children and young people teaches them to "spread their minds," as he puts it. And that is, of course, meant in a positive sense!

Art cannot be eaten – culture does not fill you up! At KRASS we say: it does! Children do not live and thrive on food intake alone.

Play, fun, experimentation, colors, movement, music, and dance strengthen body and soul. They liberate, relieve stress, and bring relaxation, balance, and contentment.

If, at the end of the day, a single child tells us through a KRASS project, "Today was my best day," then we know: This child is inwardly satisfied, content, and happy.

After the events on New Year’s Eve XNUMX/XNUMX, the refugee debate changed significantly at the beginning of the year. Instead of a culture of welcome, the discussion is now largely dominated by security aspects and stricter laws. For many volunteers who care for refugees and their integration, this is not an easy situation. However, for Düsseldorf resident Claudia Seidensticker from the association “Krass e.V.”, the guiding principle is: keep going. She intends to continue her commitment in the future – on the contrary, she even wants to expand it.

Refugee children have experienced terrible things and are often traumatized. Art is a helpful and successful form of expression for welcoming them and giving them a sense of lightheartedness and joy.

Elina comes from Odessa, a city in Ukraine. She had to leave her home country because of the war.

Ana was a philosopher before she became an artist, which perhaps distinguishes her approach to art from others. The concept precedes the technique, and the technique is directly intertwined with the art project. This is why she works with photography and video as well as art books, installations, and performances.

As part of the "anders 8 goes Hassels" project, over 10 young people participated in the "I'ma Hassler" hip-hop workshop for two weeks. They wrote, recorded, and ultimately presented three original rap songs. The project was carried out in cooperation with the Jumpers neighborhood project in Düsseldorf-Hassels. It was funded by the "Bundesverband Soziokultur eV" (Federal Association of Sociocultural Centers) as part of the "Kultur macht Stark" (Culture Makes You Strong) program and the "Bundesministerium der Bildung und Forschung" (Federal Ministry of Education and Research).

“anders” is a youth project by KRASS e.V.! Young people with diverse interests, talents and cultures worked together for 4 months and artistically exchanged their diverse perspectives and worldviews.

New texts were rapped, composed, and slammed; white canvases were transformed into vibrant, colorful ones; filming and photography took place. New sounds were beatboxed, plucked, and strummed; wild heads and old habits were cast aside—this is diversity in action at the anders project.

In our projects with boys, we primarily ask: What's on the minds of teenagers living in so-called "problem areas"? What do masculinity, respect, hate, or love mean to them? We write lyrics with them, rap, box, do graffiti, and much more... Check out the song "My Homies!"

We are part of "Düsseldorf Engaged" and are very happy that the film about our work, or more precisely, Simone Cazin's work, turned out so well! Volunteering is simply an integral part of KRASS – without the volunteer support of our paid staff, many of our programs wouldn't be possible.

The project “KRASSe Blickwinkel” (Crazy Perspectives) is a media education film project for young people by KRASS e.V.. It is funded by the Landschaftsverband Rheinland (Regional Association of the Rhineland). The short film “Schritte im Dunkeln” (Steps in the Dark) deals with the fear and persecution of many people, especially women.

During the second week of the Easter holidays in 2023, a group of children from Ukraine directed their own film! Together, they created something wonderful and made their own movie! They first learned camera techniques, then wrote the script in German and Ukrainian, and they painted, built, and crafted the costumes, props, and all the set pieces! The children filmed the movie themselves and acted in it!

The message to you is: You are not alone with your worries! There are people who will listen to you, advise you, and help you, for example at the German Child Protection Association. This video is meant to encourage you to seek help in time. "Come into the light! Together we'll find a way."

The “art-avtobus” travels with educators/artists & volunteers to refugee accommodations in the Willich and Langenfeld area and offers the children & young people found there a break and low-threshold German lessons with a large range of games, sports and creative activities.

KRASS families are especially important. Some families don't have much money. That's why KRASS offers its services free of charge.

In our project, 28 teenagers became film directors. The workshop combined analog and digital techniques – using scissors, pens, and paper, the children developed their own film ideas, which they then animated using stop-motion animation. Their ideas were transformed into a cartoon that subsequently inspired the world on YouTube.

This was THE experience for a total of 70 young and young-at-heart residents of Düsseldorf and refugees aged 12 to 16: participation in the Rose Monday parade at the 2019 Carnival in Düsseldorf!

In November 2013, our team from Shanghai traveled to the city of Lingbi in Anhui province together with renowned Chinese artists to paint with the children and bring color into their lives.

"Hip-hop is about respect!" the amazing dancer explained to the participants of the "back to the roots" dance course. Up to twenty students from the 6th and 7th grades participated in the course each week. The dancer brings years of experience from the dance scene and extensive knowledge about the art form, providing her participants with key information: "It's important that the participants never lose sight of the playful aspect of battling."
