The non-profit organization KRASS e.V. from Düsseldorf offers free programs in the fields of art and culture for children and young people who do not necessarily have easy access to them. This may be because they are refugees or because their parents do not have the financial means to provide such opportunities. The organization is funded through donations. With the aim of creating high-quality programs, KRASS works exclusively with professional artists as freelance instructors.

Culture opens up spaces in which young people can express themselves, explore, and develop further. When children and young people become artistically active, for example through painting, dancing, making music, or performing in theatre, they are given the opportunity to find their voice and become aware of themselves.
Through education and culture, children and young people develop greater self-confidence and personal responsibility: they learn to say no, to resolve conflicts constructively, and to distance themselves from negative influences. Participation in culture therefore serves not only joy and creativity, but also the prevention of isolation and a lack of prospects.
At the same time, our educational and cultural programs strengthen social skills, the ability to collaborate, to engage openly with diversity, and to actively shape society. For young people from challenging backgrounds in particular, easily accessible cultural programs offer a genuine opportunity for participation and thus for education and future prospects.
What KRASS e.V. offers in Düsseldorf
KRASS e.V. in Düsseldorf offers a diverse range of artistic and cultural activities for children and young people. These include art workshops in its own children’s studio, music workshops, and dance workshops, as well as excursions and museum visits – for example to the Kunstpalast Düsseldorf. There are also theatre projects in which children and young people perform on stage themselves and create exhibitions. A mobile art van (the “KulturMobil”) brings activities directly into neighbourhoods and to playgrounds, enabling as many young people as possible to access them easily. In addition, we cooperate with schools on cultural projects and work together with other organisations in the fields of education and culture.

All children are welcome at KRASS, regardless of their origin, social background, or their parents' financial situation. The organization is committed to inclusion and aims to bring together children from diverse walks of life. Through shared artistic creation, encounters, understanding, and friendships are fostered across boundaries.
