Autumn holidays 2026: Social media holiday camp for young people aged 13 and over

On Monday, participants learned in a workshop, using Instagram as an example, which privacy settings they can adjust in their profile and what data protection precautions they can take. Afterwards, they learned how to take good photos with their smartphones and applied what they had learned during a photo safari through Trier's city center.

On Tuesday, the participants explored trends and beauty ideals on social media. They analyzed three influencer profiles and, using AI, designed an influencer who didn't fit typical role models and didn't reproduce current beauty standards. Later, they received an introduction to video shooting with a television camera and filmed a one-shot video. This resulted in some humorous short film and interview scenes.

On Wednesdays, the participants focused on digital wellbeing. They reflected on whether they still had control over their smartphones or whether their smartphones had long since taken control of them. Afterwards, they produced their own podcasts and planned the segments they would present on Thursday.

"Only 30 more minutes? Ooo, I don't want it to be over. This is so much fun!", Participant, 11 years old

On Thursday and Friday, the participants filmed and edited short films, studio broadcasts and podcasts.

"Thank you for a wonderful holiday," participant, 13 years old
