The Project
We want to assemble a youth band of talented young musicians and support them along their journey. The band meets regularly on Saturday mornings at the Karl Berg Music School for rehearsals with a music coach. The music coach is a professional musician who accompanies the rehearsals and gives the band tips and suggestions. Among other things, the music coach will teach you: How do you develop a new song with a band? How does a band prepare for a live concert? How do you deliver a convincing performance? He will also prepare the band to continue independently after the project ends in spring 2027. Participation in the project is free!
Who is behind it?
The youth band is a project of KRASS e.V. (Cultural Education for Children and Young People) in cooperation with the Karl Berg Music School of the City of Trier and the Trier Youth Welfare Office. The music school provides the rehearsal space. KRASS e.V. conducts the rehearsals.
The project is financed through prize money that KRASS e.V. and the Trier city youth services won with a past joint music project.

Nein! Participation in both the casting and the project (i.e., the band rehearsals) is free!
Yes, absolutely! We can easily imagine adding a rapper to the band in addition to a singer, or even doing a feature.
You can basically audition with any instrument. Typical pop instruments like keyboards, electric guitar, electric bass, and drums are welcome, as are other instruments like violin, trumpet, saxophone, flute, etc. For the band, we need a core group consisting of drums, bass, vocals, and backing instruments. Additional melodic instruments can be added later.
We are looking for advanced musicians and singers. You don't need to be a perfect player. What's important is that you are motivated and have musical potential.

No, just come along and bring your instrument and the necessary cables. If you're a singer, please bring your phone with the backing track.
Please prepare two pop or rock songs to play or sing for us. Bring your instrument and any necessary cables to the audition. Amplifiers are available on site. Keyboards and drum sets are also available, so keyboardists and drummers don't need to bring their own instruments or cables. Singers, please bring your phone with the backing track you'd like to sing along to.
We'll meet in front of the music school entrance and call you up individually. Then, in a rehearsal room, you'll perform the two songs you've prepared for our jury. The jury consists of two to three adult project staff members, including the band coach who will lead the youth band's rehearsals. You'll find out whether you've been selected for the youth band no later than after everyone has performed.
You will receive feedback on whether you can join the youth band after everyone has auditioned. Those of you selected for the youth band will receive a registration form for the project. Please fill this out together with your parents and send a photo of it back to us by email to officially register for rehearsals. Band rehearsals with your band coach will begin in the fall. Rehearsals take place on Saturday mornings at the Karl Berg Music School. The project is expected to end in March 2027. You will receive more detailed information well in advance of the project start date.
