🐣 Did you know that? Exciting facts about Easter 🐰

It's almost here: Easter break and Easter are just around the corner! We're looking forward to colorful eggs and chocolate bunnies. But why do we do this, actually?

🥚 Why do we paint Easter eggs?

The egg is a very special symbol. From the outside, it looks solid and still, but inside, a tiny miracle is growing. When the chick hatches, a new life begins. This fits perfectly with spring, when everything outside starts to bloom again.

But why are eggs colored? That used to be a clever trick! In the time leading up to Easter, people weren't allowed to eat eggs. But the hens, of course, kept laying eggs diligently. To prevent the eggs from spoiling, people boiled them in hot water. That way, they kept much longer.

But then there was a problem: all the eggs in the basket looked the same. You could no longer tell which eggs were fresh and which were already cooked.

  • The solution: They simply painted the boiled eggs in bright colors.
  • So everyone knew immediately: "The red egg is cooked and we can eat it at Easter!"

🔍 And why are eggs hidden at Easter?

Eggs used to be something very special and precious. Because they couldn't be eaten for a long time before Easter, the joy was immense when they were finally allowed again. People wanted to make Easter a real adventure, especially for the children! So the adults came up with a fun idea: They hid the colorful eggs in the garden, under bushes, or in the moss. Then they told the children that the Easter Bunny was so quick and shy that he had secretly hidden the eggs while everyone was still asleep.

The search is so much fun because it's like a big treasure hunt. It reminds us that you can discover little wonders everywhere in nature in spring – you just have to look very closely!

🐰 Why does a rabbit bring the eggs?

It's actually quite funny, because rabbits don't lay eggs. But in spring, little baby rabbits hop around everywhere in the meadows. That's why the rabbit is a sign that winter is over and outdoor life is starting up again.

People used to think: "The rabbit fits so well with spring, he should bring the eggs!" And that's how he became our famous Easter bunny.

🎒 Why do we have Easter holidays?

After the long winter, we're usually a bit tired. That's why we have Easter holidays! But there's another reason too:

A big celebration takes time: Easter is one of the most important holidays of the year for many people. Because this holiday is so big and significant, people don't just celebrate for one day, but for several days in a row.

Time for family: To ensure that all families have enough time to visit each other, eat together and of course search for the hidden eggs in the garden, it was decided a long time ago: During this time, no one should have to work or go to school.

If you get a little bored during the Easter holidays, just drop by KRASS. Here you can be creative and have fun with other children. So come along to our Easter holiday activities! Just show up, no registration required!
