The Rheinische Post reports on the award ceremony with Deutsche Bank and the 365 days in the land of ideas on September 7, 2009.
The article reports on the art project "Krass – the biggest children's art studio," which won a nationwide ideas competition. In the project, 195 children painted a 30-meter-long canvas at the Rheinbahn depot in Steinberg. It was then briefly displayed on the railing of the Oberkassel Bridge in Düsseldorf. This was not only quite eye-catching but also something special in its scale. Therefore, the project was recognized as one of the "365 Places in the Land of Ideas."
Award from Federal President Horst Köhler
The artist and volunteer chairwoman of KRASS e.V., Claudia Seidensticker, initiated the project. For her commitment, she received a certificate of honor and an award signed by Federal President Horst Köhler. Deutsche Bank – represented by Thomas Herring – acted as a sponsor and also presented a commemorative plaque.
The idea is not simply about children's art, but about a consciously inclusive concept. Seidensticker wanted to ensure that children with physical disabilities and children from migrant families could participate in the artistic process as a matter of course.
The project is scheduled to take place again in October, and an international approach is even planned. Simultaneously, 500 children each in Düsseldorf and Burkina Faso will paint canvases to further strengthen intercultural exchange.
