KRASS meets Beuys: Press article in the Rheinische Post

“Everyone is an artist!” The phrase coined by Joseph Beuys perfectly captures our KRASS philosophy. We would like to thank Claudia Hötzendorfer for the wonderful article about the project generously supported by Margarete Sonnen. You can read the article here.

The article presents an art project by the association KRASS e. V. at the Richardstraße primary school in Düsseldorf. Three classes spent six months exploring the life and work of the artist Joseph Beuys. The aim was to introduce children to the world of art and encourage them to discover their own creative forms of expression.

Children discover Beuys – thanks to KRASS e.V.

Under the guidance of project leader Sarah Reuter, the students explored Beuys' materials, ideas, and artistic approach. In addition to practical work at school and in the association's premises, they also visited a museum to experience original works by the artist. This resulted in a wide variety of pictures and objects, all thematically based on Beuys' motifs and materials.

Exhibition at the Düsseldorf City Savings Bank

The project culminated in a public exhibition of the children's artwork at the Düsseldorf Savings Bank. They presented their pieces on display boards, screens, and tables – including art made from felt, a material frequently used by Beuys. At the opening, the young artists met Uwe Piel, a former student of Beuys, who shared his experiences at the art academy and offered the children insights into the life and work of the renowned Düsseldorf artist.

Ute Neubauer from dorf-aktuell has also written a wonderful article about our project. You can read the article here.
