Boxing project for young people aged 12 to 18 at the Kulturschlachthof

The goal of the project

The "Boxing Project" is aimed at financially disadvantaged young people aged 12 to 18, with and without a migration background. Its goal is to sustainably support the personal development of these young people through a combination of physical activity and social learning. The project promotes independent learning and planning, strengthens teamwork, and fosters intrinsic motivation and personal growth. Through sports, the project specifically strengthens self-confidence, communication and conflict resolution skills, perseverance, and social integration.

Our Process

The program takes place once a week and includes structured boxing training. In addition to physical activity, the focus is on developing teamwork skills, reducing aggression, and strengthening social competencies. The training provides young people with a reliable framework to reflect on everyday challenges, build endurance, and learn to interact respectfully with one another.

Place and time

The project runs from August 6, 2025 to December 31, 2026. Training takes place every Wednesday from 19:30 p.m. to 18:30 p.m. at the Kulturschlachthof (cultural slaughterhouse). The program is aimed at a fixed group of no more than 8 young people aged 12 to 18 (in cooperation with, among others, the Justus Liebig Secondary School and the HH Primary School).

Effect

Through consistent boxing training, the young people develop crucial self-confidence and improve their perception and self-regulation. The project provides access to meaningful leisure activities, promotes physical and emotional well-being, and builds long-term social structures. Participants learn to resolve conflicts non-violently, accept rules, and take responsibility within a team, which sustainably improves their overall participation in society.
