The Culture Bridge: Movement, fun and games for refugee children

KRASS e.V. stärkte geflüchtete Kinder und Jugendliche durch Tanz, Akrobatik und Spiel, förderte Bewegung, Kreativität und Selbstvertrauen.

The name "Kulturbrücke" (Culture Bridge) was a perfect fit for this special dance project with Zena, which KRASS e.V. implemented with funding from the Düsseldorf Citizens' Foundation. The aim was to encourage refugee children and young people – especially Ukrainian girls – to move, express themselves, and rediscover the joy of life.

Zena got the children moving with dance and music. They danced, laughed, and discovered how good it feels to release energy. Dance and music connected them across all language barriers and created community and trust.

In the project, the children learned about different dance forms and tried out acrobatics, gymnastics, and playful movement exercises. They strengthened their self-confidence, developed courage, and found new ways to express their feelings.

KRASS e.V. wanted to achieve one thing above all with the cultural bridge: to give children space for childhood, freedom and joy – even when their everyday life was often difficult.

A heartfelt thank you to the Düsseldorf Citizens' Foundation for the financial support of this moving project "Culture Bridge".
