On August 15, 2022, we warmly welcomed refugee children to Willich and Langenfeld. We continued our Bus to provide them with security and create a safe space. Our goal was to demonstrate reliability and give the children stability through structured daily routines.
We offered the children and young people all the creative resources we had. They painted, did crafts, danced, went on excursions, and received help with their homework. The children decided for themselves which activities they wanted to participate in, following their own interests and inclinations.
Through creative activities, we strengthened the children's self-confidence and fostered their ability to express themselves. At the same time, we supported social integration by facilitating shared experiences and encounters. The children learned that they were taken seriously and that their ideas and wishes mattered.
The bus became a mobile meeting place for us, where children could experience peace, security, and joy. Every day we created small successes, strengthened relationships, and gave the children positive guidance in their new daily routine.
