Mobile art and education program for children aged 6-12 years

The goal of the project

The "KulturMobil" project offers mobile, low-threshold cultural education for socially disadvantaged children aged 6 to 12 in Düsseldorf. Through regular artistic workshops and intercultural exchange, the program specifically strengthens the creative, linguistic, and social skills of children whose opportunities for participation are often limited by language barriers and a lack of support. The project promotes emotional development, instills democratic values, and fosters community directly within the children's living environment. Another key focus is the involvement of parents: by building acceptance and trust, they act as important intermediaries, facilitating access for the children to further educational and support services such as tutoring or scholarships.

Our Process

The KulturMobil (Culture Mobile) operates daily and is staffed by at least one professional and one volunteer. Children can expect a regularly changing range of creative and artistic activities on site. The program is designed to provide continuous access to cultural education. Furthermore, the team facilitates connections to other, well-coordinated activities, contacts, and leisure opportunities for the whole family.

Place and time

The project runs from April 1st to December 31st, 2026. The KulturMobil (Culture Mobile) travels daily to various districts of Düsseldorf (such as Hassels-Nord), to public events, and to refugee accommodations. The program is aimed at children and young people aged 6 to 12.

Effect

The KulturMobil (Culture Mobile) creates sustainable access to cultural education and strengthens equal opportunities for children from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds. The mobile's high public profile fosters societal acceptance of inclusive education. Children playfully improve their language and social skills, while parents gain confidence in the education system, paving the way for long-term social participation.
