NextGenGirls: Fashion, Design & Empowerment for girls aged 15–18

Next Gen Girls

"NextGenGirls" is a year-long creative and empowerment project for girls aged 15 to 18 that combines fashion, design, photography, and social issues. The project is aimed at young women who want to develop their own style, create innovative concepts, and explore questions of identity, body image, and modern femininity. Fashion as an expression of identity.

  • Style development and concept work
  • Upcycling and sustainable design
  • Photography and staging
  • Examining body image, role models and modern femininity

Fashion as a medium for identity and attitude

At the heart of the project is fashion as an expression of personality, lifestyle, and attitude. Participants work on their own design ideas, develop individual style concepts, and explore the aesthetic, cultural, and social aspects of fashion. Fashion is understood not merely as a consumer product, but as a creative and reflective means of expression.

Sustainability and creative work

A key focus is on sustainable design and upcycling. The girls experiment with materials, transform existing garments, and develop new concepts that promote the conscious use of resources and responsible design. This approach combines creativity with ecological awareness and a future-oriented mindset.

Photography, staging and presentation

The project integrates photography and visual staging as creative forms of expression. Participants develop their own looks, stage them, and reflect on how images influence identity, body image, and societal role models. This results in visual works that make personal and societal perspectives visible.

Empowerment and personal development

"NextGenGirls" fosters self-confidence, independence, and self-expression. Through creative processes, group discussions, and shared activities, a space is created for reflection, mutual support, and the development of individual perspectives. The girls are encouraged to find their voice, take responsibility, and make their viewpoints visible.

Conclusion and public presentation

At the end of the project, the resulting works will be presented in a presentation or exhibition. The participants will have the opportunity to publicly showcase their concepts, designs, and visual work, and to demonstrate their creative development.

Organizational framework

The project starts in March and is designed to run for one year. Meetings will take place weekly for three hours at KRASS e.V., located at Bürgerhaus Eller, Jägerstraße 31 in Düsseldorf. Group size is limited to approximately ten participants to allow for intensive work and individual support. The program is free of charge. Registration is required.
