The goal of the project
The dance project "Empowerment through Creativity" offers young girls aged 5 to 16 a safe, discrimination-free space to explore their artistic talents and develop their personalities. This free, intercultural program is primarily aimed at girls with a migration background or refugee experience from the Eller community center area. The goal is sustainable empowerment: participants strengthen their self-confidence, build resilience, and experience through active participation that their voice matters. Furthermore, the project promotes the reduction of prejudice, respectful interaction, and democratic participation within the neighborhood.
Our Process
The weekly three-hour program is divided into two age-appropriate groups (5 to 9 years and 10 to 16 years) and includes a variety of components:
- Dancing (Freestyle & Group Work): Stress reduction, strengthening of body awareness and expression of one's own individuality.
- Music & Singing: Promotion of musicality, voice and stage presence.
- Storytelling & Text Work: Developing rhetorical skills and one's own language patterns.
- Coaching & discussion panels: Reflection on role models, social media, and experiences of bullying.
- Excursions & exploration of social spaces: Joint ventures to broaden horizons in the urban environment.
Place and time
The project runs from January 1st to December 31st, 2026 (approximately 50 sessions). The course takes place once a week from 19:00 pm to 16:00 pm at the Eller community center, as well as during field trips. The program is aimed at a total of 20 to 30 girls aged 5 to 16, divided into two 90-minute groups.
Effect
Through the combination of dance, singing, and coaching, the girls develop strong self-esteem, teamwork skills, and a pronounced ability to express themselves. The project offers valuable support in cases of discrimination and bullying and strengthens intercultural cohesion. By experiencing cultural diversity as an enrichment, the program sustainably strengthens social cohesion in the neighborhood and paves the way for greater equality of opportunity.
