If the MOVER – our mobile recording studio – arrives at the Rhine promenade in Düsseldorf, the backdrop of the historic old town becomes a stage for young voices. We connect with young people directly in their everyday environment, provide access to professional studio equipment, and create space for creative expression.
Every second Saturday, the riverbank along the Rhine turns into an open HipHop and rap stage. Young people not only get the opportunity to take a close look at the technical equipment but also to become actively involved themselves. Whether at the mixing desk or directly in front of the microphone – with us, participants learn how to build a song from a loop and how to match their own message to the beat.
Things get especially lively at our open mic sessions and rap battles. These events are all about exchange, respect for the craft, and the courage to put one's own story into words.
SARA on Stage – with a new song!
The KRASS Mover project not only inspires creativity but also helps nurture emerging talent. Last Saturday, KRASS scholarship recipient Sara, better known as ASHENFYER, demonstrated exactly that. With a powerful performance of her new song "Sinn", she showcased the creative potential that exists within local young people when they are given the opportunity and the right platform to express themselves.
KRASS and kohleG: A joint commitment to youth
This project is built on a strong partnership: It is initiated by KRASS e.V. in cooperation with kohleG. As a recognised independent youth welfare organisation in the form of a non-profit cooperative, kohleG works together with KRASS to promote sustainable youth work that takes place where life happens – right in the heart of the city.

Hip-Hop & Düsseldorf
Kolja Podkowik, also known as "Koljah," founding member of the well-known German hip-hop band Antilopen Gang, grew up in Düsseldorf-Bilk. He still lives in Düsseldorf today – although he moved to Göttingen for his studies, he subsequently returned to his hometown. Antilopen Gang released their Music Incidentally, until 2020 via the label JKP – the record company of Die Toten Hosen, based in Düsseldorf-Flingern.
Düsseldorf is not only home to artists, but also an important media location for hip-hop: Hiphop.de, one of the largest German-language online magazines for rap and urban music culture, is located here on Birkenstraße in Flingern.
