From April to May 2026, a rap workshop for boys and young men aged 15 to 21 took place in the recording studio of the KRASS House at the Eller community center.
Under the professional guidance of the experienced rap coaches Mon and JayJay, the participants immersed themselves in the world of hip-hop. The results are impressive: three original songs were created that resonate deeply and offer authentic insights into the lives of the young artists. The lyrics explore personal challenges, pain, and self-discovery, as well as lifestyle, friendship, and the joy of living.
Visit to the Young Action Stage
A special highlight was the visit to the Junge Aktionsbühne at the House of Youth on Lacombletstraße in Düsseldorf-Düsseltal. There, the participants gained exciting insights into other forms of creative expression, made new connections, and gathered valuable inspiration for their own artistic work.
The success of the first workshop block exceeded all expectations. The enthusiasm and creative energy at KRASS House were so great that the project is moving directly into the next phase.
Development workshop: Participants bring rap to the stage
A follow-up workshop will take place until the summer holidays. Participants will work intensively on bringing their songs to the stage and gaining more confidence during live performances. In addition to musical development, stage presence, expression, and self-confidence will also be key focuses.
Performance at the summer festival
The project will culminate in a performance at the big summer festival on July 17, 2026. There, the young artists will present the songs that they have created with great dedication, creativity and passion over the past few weeks.

Rap workshop as a building block of cultural and social education
Rap and hip-hop offer young people far more than just music. Engaging creatively with lyrics, beats, and performance gives them the opportunity to express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a constructive way.
