KRASS Kurdistan/Iraq
Nechir Mohammed is the head of the KRASS location in Kurdistan.
My name is Nechir Mohammed. I am 34 years old and live in Monheim am Rhein. I have an MA in English from Nottingham University in the UK. I am currently studying for another MA in Education. I have worked as a secondary school teacher and lecturer at my home university in Kurdistan, Iraq. The main focus of KRASS locally will be language support.
The motivation behind the founding of "KRASS vor Ort"
With a team of experts in education, psychology and art, we want to help disadvantaged children from our community, aged 3 to 16, to connect with their inner unlimited power, so that they can look to the future with strength and look beyond their immediate negative circumstances to take control of their own lives.
Our primary goal is to create a world where children can develop intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. To achieve this, we are creating a diverse environment full of educational, artistic, and playful stimuli to foster their cognitive development.
This is especially true for children from low-income households, orphans, and refugees. Due to war and economic instability, many children are in need of support. These children have typically suffered cognitive and emotional neglect and trauma. This can lead to low IQ, delayed language development, a lack of creative thinking, and a deficiency in emotional and social skills. These negative consequences can last a lifetime.
We want to overwrite the 'old' stories and give them the opportunity to build new, positive connections in the brain with each new and positively stimulating experience.
We want to offer children an environment that allows them to develop as multidimensional, whole beings at a time when their brains are still rapidly developing. We want to provide them with a foundation for optimal future learning, so that they can develop a unique and positive vision for their lives and strengthen their resilience to meet future challenges.
Why do we work with KRASS?
KRASS will help us give value and meaning to our work. With the network and support of KRASS, these disadvantaged children will be offered the best possible service. The KRASS brand will be used in Kurdistan/Iraq as a force for good, where it is most needed.
