    Living diversity, strengthening creativity

With the project ‘You belong to us’, KRASS e.V. is launching an intercultural art and empowerment project that specifically targets refugee children. Our aim is to strengthen these children’s resilience, ability to deal with conflict and sense of belonging through artistic and cultural activities. We create a safe space in which they can discover their creative talents, experience cultural identity and develop healthy self-confidence. Democratic values and the creative exploration of topics such as tolerance and the prevention of extremism take centre stage. A particular focus is on regular encounters with non-refugee children from the neighbourhood – shared experiences and getting to know each other are firmly anchored components of the project.

    ! Summer program for kids!

The children were able to try out four cultural institutions for a week: the museum, the theatre, the workshop and the dance house. In public presentations, the theatre pieces they had created were performed, the dances they had rehearsed were performed, there was a musical programme from the drum circle and the circus performance was a source of amazement. The works from the museum (large-format paintings and collages) could also be admired, and the workshop could also be visited. There were self-designed and painted bags, small figures, jewellery made of polymer clay and a city made of cardboard. Other highlights included face painting for children and the opportunity to paint a T-shirt with the KreativStadt logo.

We would like to thank our fantastic team (18 artist’s!) led by our KRASSe project manager Sarah Reuter
