It’s not just the contact with art and culture that the KRASS association has been bringing to children and young people since it was founded in 2009. It is self-confidence, courage, perspective, openness, tolerance and the message ‘you are important’. Crucial experiences, especially for disadvantaged children and young people. The outstanding commitment of founder Claudia Seidensticker and the KRASS team was recognised on Tuesday (17 December) by the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Rheinland with the Youth Culture Prize 2024. In addition to an award, the organisation received prize money of 1.000 Euros.
In a kind of laudatory speech, Dirk Sauerborn honoured the achievements of the association. He described the preventative effect of KRASS by conveying feelings, a sense of achievement and community. The children and young people are given strong role models and this makes them strong. Sauerborn is a former police officer who worked for many years in the field of crime prevention and knows the importance of guidance. He emphasised that social interaction also teaches children and young people how to deal with failure and find solutions to problems. KRASS leads them to a positive personal attitude to life, praised Sauerborn.
The Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Rheinland has been awarding the Youth Culture Prize since 1997 to organisations and institutions that are committed to the cultural development and fulfilment of young people.
