    Reading for ukrainian children

On 5 November 22, we read to refugee children – Locktidock, the story of a talking lawnmower with big feelings!
11:00 – 15:00, refugee shelters in Düsseldorf and Willich.

The idea to have the book “Locktidock” by Irina Sosedko translated into Ukrainian arose in many conversations, with hands and feet. The children’s book by Marek Heindorff, richly illustrated by the illustrator Susanne Schröpel, describes the path of a young lawnmower who does not want to mow grass so as not to take away or hurt anyone’s home. Only together with new friends does he find a new way…

    Review autumn holidays programme

A total of four workshops were held: Build Your Own SkateBoard, The World of Your Story, The Garden House! and Make Your Own Jewellery! It was an intense two weeks with limitless creations from the kids.

Whether it was designing the skateboards and jewellery or working in the garden house and on the covers of the books, all the colours and innovations made these cold days more beautiful.

  • KRASS e.V. celebrates civic engagement.

    KRASS e.V. celebrates civic engagement.

KRASS e. V., whose founder Claudia Seidensticker was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia this year, is dedicating this year’s summer party with 80 invited guests entirely to the volunteers who are the main supporters of the association.

“Without civic engagement, our work would be unthinkable. We have biologists, musicians, cooks and graphic designers working for us, simply because they are enthusiastic about the cause,” says Seidensticker. Since the association has not received any institutional funding to date, despite numerous awards, the work of the volunteers is of the highest value.

“Around 20,000 children in Düsseldorf are considered poor. Many of them have difficult access to education, sports activities and meaningful leisure time activities that are also fun. This is where we come in!”, explains Seidensticker. Since 2009, numerous sponsors have supported KRASS in its mission to make cultural education, in the form of visual arts, song or dance, accessible to every child. Volunteers also shape the content of the offers, depending on their background.

Thus, the work of the association has not been limited to art and culture for a long time, but has expanded its spectrum, completely oriented towards the needs of the children: since Corona, there is also daily tutoring, hot meals, garden projects and even holiday programmes.

  • Supporting membership

A supporting membership enables us to realise many great educational and cultural projects for children and young people!

KRASS supports the personal development of socio-economically disadvantaged children and young people through free access to education, art and culture.

KRASS needs friends and supporters…… in order to be able to realise the diverse offer by pedagogically trained staff in the long term. Several thousand children and young people aged 3-18 have already benefited from the courses and activities.

The financial support of small and large private donors is just as essential as the voluntary work and advice of individual friends.

That is why we ask you: Become a supporting member of KRASS!

Support our work with a sustaining membership – from 5,- € per month – to secure our current and future work!

  • Experiencing fairytales at the museum

    Experiencing fairytales at the museum

The long-term project „experiencing fairytales at the museum“, realized with the support of „Culture makes you strong”, offered various artistic activities for children between September 2018 and March 2019.

The kids were introduced to literary topics through regular group meetings and other free-time activities during school holidays. They were free to choose between dance & theatre, costume design and set design according to their preferences.

Each series of meetings ended with the groups consolidating their results and presenting them in a joint theatre performance. During the project, the kids also visited selected cultural sites, such as the castle Benrath, together with their lecturers and mentors.

The project was a great creative experience with lots of fun and artistic productivity for everyone!
